Tacoma Rainers Game

The sun is out and it's a great time for baseball!! In case you missed it, here is a great opportunity to enjoy this weather!

The 7th & 8th grade Washington MS Bulldog Concert Choir will be performing the National Anthem at the Tacoma Rainiers game next Wednesday, 4/29 - game time is 6:05pm. The district decided not to do an OSD Night at the Rainiers this year, so we need your support! Come out and support our singers and enjoy a night at Cheney Stadium! HERE is the link to purchase tickets - please invite any family and friends to join you and order their tickets via this link. We have a minimum ticket purchase we need to meet, so spread the word! Thank you for your support of these awesome singers and let's go Rainiers! Sing on, Bulldogs!...*Stacy Brown

Community Connections

presented by the OSD School Social Work Team
April 2025

Did you know that April is Autism Acceptance Month?

Previously known as Autism Awareness Month, Autism Acceptance prioritizes the diversity and inclusion of people with autism. The Olympia Social Work Team recognizes the value that people with autism contribute to our learning community.

Local Resources include:

  • South Sound Parent to Helping Parent Program offers emotional support, community resources, peer mentorship, family events, assistance in navigating complex health systems, educational opportunities, and guidance to parents/caregivers raising children with disabilities. Contact SSP2P at 360-352-1126.
  • Thurston County Inclusion hosts camps and events for children ages 5-22, providing peer connections and inclusive, accessible programming. Registration begins in April for TCI summer camps- find out more on their website.
  • Olympia Schools Supportive Education Council is a collective of caregivers, teachers, & staff advocating for OSD students receiving support services. Check out their Facebook page for more information on upcoming events.

  • Autism Acres is a nonprofit dedicated to providing a free, safe, and comfortable play environment for people and families affected by special needs.

  • Informing Families is a resource for families and caregivers. They provide information on IEP preparation, life after high school, navigating relationships, positive behavior support, understanding the service system, and issues for those with a dual diagnosis of developmental disability and mental illness.
Are you looking for information about support groups, crisis lines, help with meals or bills, social and emotional wellness, or parent support?  You can find all that and much more here on our OSD Resources for Youth & Families webpage.

Thanks!

Student Activities

WMS Tech Arts Enterprise students are a talented group of woodworkers and creators tasked with running their own small businesses. Students utilize our school's laser engraver, 3D printer, woodshop, and sublimation machine to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind items, which can be customized to your desires.

If you would like to support our students and are interested in placing an order, please view our attached Catalogue or contact Andy Callender at acallender@osd.wednet.edu, or submit an order here. Payment can be made after the item has been completed.

We also have a small store front in the WMS office. All proceeds from our sales are invested directly back into our program.

Your freshman season is quickly approaching and there are some important things you need to know.

2) Strength training with your teammates is how foundational championship football is built from the ground up. We are currently lifting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the mornings from 7-8am or in the evenings MWF from 5 to 6:30pm (most 8th graders are lifting in the evenings currently). Talk with your parents and make sure you are cleared through Final Forms so you can lift with the team.

3) Being a strong student in the classroom is a priority that we emphasize heavily for Olympia High School Football. Please make sure you are completing your assignments, having strong attendance, being respectful to staff and students, and giving your best effort in the classroom.

4) Players, you are our best recruiting tool. Please speak with as many of your fellow 8th grade students about joining Olympia Football their freshman year. Let's try and have a massive incoming freshman football team. Our goal is 50+ incoming freshman. Let's build our army of BEARS!!!!!
